Wisdom Teeth Woes

Emily got her wisdom teeth out on Monday.

I was hoping to get a hilarious video of her on anesthesia that would go viral and make us all rich, but no such luck.  Apparently they just knock them out with something that doesn't make them all goofy nowadays.

The doctor warned us repeatedly that she wouldn't hurt much until DAY THREE.  Day three is the bad day.  He warned us to make sure we had her prescription for painkiller filled before day three hit.  That's apparently when all the steroids and pain meds they gave her while she was unconscious would fully wear off.

As the doctor was telling us this - I repeat AS THE DOCTOR WAS  TELLING US THIS - Emily said, "I'm already hurting a lot now.  I need something now."

I had intended to take her home and let her sleep while I went to get her prescription filled.  But she started crying on the way home and wanted to go get medicine immediately.

We stopped by Walmart first as it is close by and I knew how to get to it.

They were out of the medication.

So we headed to CVS.  Emily waited in the car while I ran inside.

"When do you plan to pick this up?" the man behind the counter asked me.

"Right now," I told him.  "I have a teenager in the car crying because she's in so much pain."

He told me it would be ready in about twenty minutes, but thankfully it was actually ready in five.

Emily slept a lot for the first few days and we were prepared to batten down the hatches for day three.

Day three came with no noticeable difference.  Day four and day five came and went.  No problem.

Then day six arrived.

Emily woke up in the middle of the night with a lot of pain.  As is the way of teens today, she didn't wake me up.  She took more medicine and made twenty or so posts on Facebook about how much pain she was in.

I found out about it the next morning when I checked my Facebook and saw all the posts.

But she is back to normal now.  Minimal pain.  Ready to shop.

Life is good.
